COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

How thick should gym flooring be?

It depends on your training type. Home gyms with light weights: 4–8mm rubber rolls are sufficient. Commercial gyms / free weights: 12–16mm tiles provide excellent protection. Olympic lifting / CrossFit: 20–30mm tiles are recommended for heavy drops. Our flooring selector quiz can help you choose.

What's the difference between rubber tiles and rubber rolls?

Tiles (12–30mm) are thicker, interlock together, and are ideal for free weight areas. They're easy to replace individually if damaged. Rolls (4–12mm) cover large areas quickly, are more affordable per sqm, and work best for cardio zones, studios, and general gym flooring.

Do I need underlay beneath rubber gym flooring?

Generally no. Rubber gym flooring is designed to be laid directly on concrete, screed, or existing hard floors. For wooden subfloors or upper-level installations, we recommend our thicker tiles (16mm+) which provide built-in sound insulation.

Will rubber flooring smell?

New rubber flooring has a mild rubber scent that typically fades within 3–7 days in a ventilated space. Our premium tiles use low-VOC manufacturing, so the smell is significantly less than cheaper imports. Opening windows during the first week speeds up the process.

How much flooring do I need?

Measure your room length × width in metres to get sqm. We recommend ordering 5–10% extra for cuts and waste. Use our flooring calculator above for an instant quote based on your room size and chosen product.

Do you offer free samples?

Yes! We send free material samples to anywhere in the UK so you can check thickness, texture, and quality before buying. Request your free sample here — no obligation, dispatched next working day.

What's your delivery time?

Orders placed before 2pm are dispatched same day. Standard UK delivery is 2–3 working days. We also offer next-day delivery and pallet delivery for large orders. All deliveries over £50 are free.

Can I use rubber flooring in a flat or upstairs room?

Absolutely. Rubber flooring is one of the best options for upper floors because it absorbs impact and reduces noise transmission. We recommend 20mm+ tiles for upstairs home gyms to minimise sound transfer to rooms below.
