Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are these tiles suitable for a garage gym with heavy barbells and power racks?
A: Absolutely. With a 400kg/m² static load rating and 20mm thickness, these tiles are built for garage gyms where heavy equipment — power racks, barbells, dumbbells, and cable machines — is bolted down or placed directly on the floor. The dense rubber absorbs impact and protects your concrete subfloor.
Q: Do I need to prepare my garage floor before laying these tiles?
A: Your concrete floor should be clean, dry, and reasonably level. Minor surface imperfections are fine as the 20mm rubber thickness bridges small gaps. Remove any oil stains if possible, as these can affect tile adhesion if you choose to glue perimeter tiles. No special preparation is required for a loose-lay installation.
Q: Will these tiles stop my gym equipment from moving or sliding?
A: The R10 slip-rated rubber surface provides excellent friction against equipment feet. Most racks and benches will remain stable without anchoring. For very heavy deadlifts or Olympic lifting, we recommend placing additional weight or rubber feet pads under rack uprights for added stability.
Q: How do I cut these tiles to fit around the edges and corners of my garage?
A: These tiles can be cut accurately using a sharp utility knife and a straight edge. Score deeply along the cut line several times, then snap cleanly. For curved cuts around pillars or door frames, a jigsaw with a fine-tooth blade works well. Always measure twice and cut once.
Q: What is the tile density and how durable are they for long-term garage use?
A: The tiles have a density of 1.1–1.3 g/cm³, indicating high-quality recycled rubber construction. They are designed to withstand years of daily use in demanding environments. The solid butt-joint system means no interlocking teeth to wear or break off over time.
Q: Can I use these tiles in an unheated garage during UK winters?
A: Yes. These rubber tiles remain flexible and stable across a wide temperature range, including the cold, damp conditions typical of unheated UK garages. The rubber does not become brittle in freezing temperatures. Ensure the floor remains dry, as standing water under the tiles over extended periods should be avoided.
