Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are these tiles suitable for Olympic barbell drops and heavy CrossFit movements?
A: Yes — these 16mm rubber gym flooring tiles are built specifically for CrossFit box environments. With 70% impact absorption and a density of 900 kg/m³, they handle barbell cycling, box jumps, and sled pushes without cracking or compressing permanently. For repeated barbell drops from overhead, we recommend pairing with a 17mm or thicker lifting platform in the Olympic lifting zone.
Q: What size are the tiles and how many do I need per square metre?
A: Each tile measures 500mm × 500mm, so you need exactly 4 tiles to cover 1 square metre. Simply measure your CrossFit floor area in square metres and multiply by 4 to get your tile count. The interlocking design means zero wastage at joins.
Q: Are the tiles certified safe — no harmful chemicals?
A: Yes. These tiles carry EN 13893 slip resistance certification, CE marking, and are fully REACH compliant — meaning they've been tested and cleared of restricted chemical substances. Safe for barefoot WODs, chalk use, and high-perspiration environments common in CrossFit boxes.
Q: Will the tiles stay in place during intense workouts like burpees and sled pushes?
A: Absolutely. The interlocking puzzle edge system locks adjacent tiles together under lateral force. During burpees, lateral sled drags, and jumping movements, the floor stays unified. For permanent installations, a rubber-compatible adhesive can be applied to the perimeter tiles.
Q: How much noise do these tiles reduce — important for boxes in commercial buildings?
A: These 16mm tiles deliver 65% noise reduction versus bare concrete. This makes them particularly suitable for CrossFit boxes in multi-tenant buildings, mezzanine levels, or shared commercial units where noise transfer is a concern for neighbours below.
Q: How do I clean and maintain rubber gym tiles in a high-traffic CrossFit box?
A: Sweep daily and mop weekly with a pH-neutral cleaner diluted in water. Avoid bleach or solvent-based cleaners as they can degrade the rubber compound over time. For chalk residue — common in CrossFit — a slightly damp mop with mild detergent works well. The dense rubber surface (900 kg/m³) resists liquid penetration, making cleaning straightforward.
