Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are these tiles safe to use on wooden floors in a home gym?
A: Yes. These 20mm rubber tiles are safe on wooden floors and will protect your floorboards from impact damage, scratches, and equipment indentation. The soft rubber underside is non-marking and will not damage hardwood or laminate surfaces. For added protection, you may place a thin underlay beneath the tiles on very delicate floors.
Q: How many tiles do I need for a typical home gym?
A: Each tile covers exactly 1m² (1000mm × 1000mm). A small home gym for weights and cardio typically requires 9–16 tiles (3m × 3m to 4m × 4m). Measure your intended gym space and order the matching number of tiles, adding a few extra for cuts if your room has an irregular shape.
Q: Will these tiles damage my underfloor heating system?
A: Our 20mm rubber tiles can be used over underfloor heating systems, but we recommend keeping the system temperature below 27°C surface temperature. High sustained heat can affect rubber over time. Allow the tiles to acclimatise to room temperature before installation, and consult your underfloor heating provider if unsure.
Q: Do I need to stick these tiles down in a home gym?
A: For most home gym setups, these tiles can be loose-laid without adhesive. The butt-joint system keeps tiles aligned, and the weight of equipment helps stabilise them. If your home gym has very high activity levels or you prefer a permanent installation, perimeter adhesive can be applied to prevent edge movement.
Q: How do I clean rubber gym tiles at home?
A: Routine cleaning is simple: sweep or vacuum to remove dust, then mop with warm water and a small amount of mild detergent or specialist rubber floor cleaner. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry. Avoid bleach, ammonia, or oil-based cleaners. Regular cleaning keeps the R10 anti-slip surface performing at its best.
Q: Will these tiles reduce noise and vibration from weights dropping in a home gym?
A: Yes. The 20mm thickness and high-density rubber composition (1.1–1.3 g/cm³) provide effective impact absorption, significantly reducing the noise and vibration transmitted to floors below when weights are dropped or set down. For maximum sound isolation — for example in flats or rooms above bedrooms — consider adding an additional acoustic underlay beneath the tiles.
