How to Order & Measure

Ordering the right amount is simple:

  1. Measure your space: Length × Width. Our rolls are 1m wide, so for a 5m × 3m room you'd need three separate 5m lengths (covering 3m width).
  2. Choose your thickness using the guide above.
  3. Select cut-to-length or full 10m roll — cut-to-length is perfect for odd dimensions with zero waste.
  4. Add to cart and we'll cut your order to the nearest centimetre before dispatch.

Installation Guide

  1. Prepare the sub-floor: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, flat and free from dust, grease or debris.
  2. Acclimatise the roll: Allow the rubber to unroll and rest in the room for 30–60 minutes before fitting — this removes any curl from transit.
  3. Lay from one edge: Start at the longest straight wall and roll out, trimming to fit with a sharp utility knife and straight edge.
  4. Butt edges tightly: If using multiple rolls side by side, push edges flush together — no overlap.
  5. Secure if required: For permanent installations use double-sided carpet tape or rubber flooring adhesive along edges and seams. For loose-lay gym use, the weight of rubber is usually sufficient.
  6. Trim door thresholds: Use rubber edging strips or bevelled trim for a neat, safe edge at doorways.
  7. Final check: Walk the surface to ensure no bubbles or lifted edges before bringing in equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What thickness is best for a home garage gym?

For a home garage gym, 6mm is ideal for cardio-only areas. If you plan to use free weights, barbells or a power rack, we recommend 8mm for general lifting and 10mm or 12mm directly under your rack or for deadlift areas where you drop the bar.

Will rubber flooring work on a concrete garage floor?

Yes — concrete is the ideal sub-floor for rubber rolls. It's firm, flat and allows the rubber to grip securely. Ensure the concrete is clean and dry before laying. Minor cracks or imperfections in the concrete are generally fine; the rubber bridges small surface irregularities.

How do I measure my garage for flooring?

Measure the length and width of the area you want to cover. Our rolls are 1m wide, so for a 5m × 6m garage you'd need six 5m lengths (covering 6m of width), or you can mix cut lengths for different zones. Order a little extra to allow for trimming around door frames and wall edges.

Can I install this without professional fitting?

Yes — garage gym rubber rolls are a straightforward DIY installation. Unroll, allow to acclimatise for 30–60 minutes, trim to fit with a sharp utility knife and lay flat. For a loose-lay installation in a home gym no adhesive is required; the weight of the rubber holds it in place.

Will rubber flooring insulate a cold garage floor?

Rubber provides a small degree of thermal insulation versus bare concrete, but it is not a substitute for underfloor insulation. For very cold garages, consider an insulating foam underlay beneath the rubber, though this is not required for most home gyms.

Is rubber flooring suitable for a slightly damp garage?

Our SBR rubber rolls are moisture-resistant and will not rot, warp or degrade in a slightly damp environment. However, standing water beneath the roll should be avoided — if you have active water ingress, address the source before installing flooring.
