Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are these tiles suitable for a hotel gym used by guests with varied fitness levels?
A: Yes — these EN 13893 certified 16mm rubber tiles are ideal for hotel gym environments. The slip resistance certification covers both dry and wet conditions, making them safe for guests who may train in trainers, bare feet, or socks. The professional appearance and durable surface suit premium hospitality environments.
Q: Do the tiles meet health and safety requirements for commercial hospitality fitness facilities?
A: Yes. EN 13893 slip resistance, CE marking, and REACH compliance cover the key regulatory standards for commercial fitness flooring in the UK hospitality sector. These certifications are typically required by hotel group procurement teams and H&S compliance frameworks.
Q: How durable are these tiles under light-to-moderate hotel gym usage?
A: Very durable. At 900 kg/m³ density, these tiles withstand daily hotel gym use involving treadmills, free weights, resistance machines, and cardio equipment. Unlike cheaper foam tiles, high-density rubber doesn't compress permanently or degrade under static machine weights.
Q: How easy is it to replace a single damaged tile in a hotel setting?
A: One of the key advantages of interlocking tiles is single-tile replaceability. If a tile is damaged, it can be lifted from the edge and replaced individually without disturbing the rest of the floor. Keep a small stock of spare tiles when you install for easy future maintenance.
Q: What's the noise reduction like — will gym activity disturb adjacent hotel rooms?
A: The 16mm tiles deliver 65% noise reduction and 70% impact absorption. For hotel gyms adjacent to guest rooms or corridors, this significantly reduces transmitted impact and equipment noise. For maximum acoustic isolation, combine with a 6mm rubber acoustic underlay beneath the tiles.
Q: Can these tiles be installed over existing hotel gym flooring?
A: In most cases, yes. Free-lay interlocking tiles can be installed over flat, stable existing floors including hardwood, vinyl, and concrete. The 16mm thickness adds minimal floor height — typically less than 20mm when accounting for compression. Check door clearance before installation in existing fitted hotel gym spaces.
