How Many Tiles Do You Need?
Each tile covers 0.25m² (500mm × 500mm). You need 4 tiles per m². Measure your room, multiply length × width, add 10% for cuts.
| Room Size | Area | Tiles (inc. 10%) |
|---|---|---|
| 3m × 3m | 9 m² | 40 tiles |
| 4m × 5m | 20 m² | 88 tiles |

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are these tiles designed for functional training movements — kettlebells, TRX, battle ropes?
A: Yes — these 16mm rubber tiles are built for the demands of functional training zones. The EN 13893 certified surface handles barefoot movement, lateral drills, battle rope slams, kettlebell swings, and TRX-anchored training safely. The 70% impact absorption absorbs the energy of dynamic movements without floor bounce or surface degradation.
Q: How do the tiles perform under sled and drag work — do they stay in place?
A: The interlocking puzzle edge design locks adjacent tiles under lateral drag and sled push force. The 900 kg/m³ density provides sufficient mass to resist tile shift during high-intensity functional training. For heavier sled work, perimeter tiles can be fixed with rubber-compatible adhesive for a fully stable surface.
Q: What's the slip resistance like for barefoot and minimalist shoe training?
A: EN 13893 certified — this is the benchmark for slip-resistant fitness flooring in the UK. The textured rubber surface maintains traction in barefoot, minimalist shoe, and training shoe conditions, even with sweat or chalk present. Safe for plyometrics, lateral drills, and all functional fitness movements.
Q: Are the tiles REACH compliant — safe for skin contact in a barefoot training environment?
A: Yes. REACH compliance confirms these tiles are free from restricted chemical substances including heavy metals and harmful plasticisers. They are safe for prolonged skin contact in barefoot functional training environments — an important consideration for yoga, floor work, and ground-based movements in functional fitness.
Q: How do I configure the tile layout for a functional training zone with multiple zones?
A: The 500mm × 500mm modular format is ideal for defining zones within a functional training space. Use the grid naturally created by the tile joins to plan equipment placement. 4 tiles = 1m², so a 6m × 6m functional training space (36m²) needs 144 tiles. The interlocking system makes future layout changes easy.
Q: What maintenance do these tiles need in a high-usage functional training facility?
A: Sweep daily to remove chalk, rubber debris, and equipment residue. Mop weekly with a diluted gym disinfectant. The 900 kg/m³ rubber surface resists liquid penetration, so maintenance is straightforward. Inspect tile joins monthly — the interlocking system is self-correcting if a tile shifts, simply press it back into position.
