How to Order & Measure
Ordering the right amount is simple:
- Measure your space: Length × Width. Our rolls are 1m wide, so for a 5m × 3m room you'd need three separate 5m lengths (covering 3m width).
- Choose your thickness using the guide above.
- Select cut-to-length or full 10m roll — cut-to-length is perfect for odd dimensions with zero waste.
- Add to cart and we'll cut your order to the nearest centimetre before dispatch.

Installation Guide
- Prepare the sub-floor: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, flat and free from dust, grease or debris.
- Acclimatise the roll: Allow the rubber to unroll and rest in the room for 30–60 minutes before fitting — this removes any curl from transit.
- Lay from one edge: Start at the longest straight wall and roll out, trimming to fit with a sharp utility knife and straight edge.
- Butt edges tightly: If using multiple rolls side by side, push edges flush together — no overlap.
- Secure if required: For permanent installations use double-sided carpet tape or rubber flooring adhesive along edges and seams. For loose-lay gym use, the weight of rubber is usually sufficient.
- Trim door thresholds: Use rubber edging strips or bevelled trim for a neat, safe edge at doorways.
- Final check: Walk the surface to ensure no bubbles or lifted edges before bringing in equipment.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between black and black/red speckle?
The black roll is a uniform solid black finish. The black with red EPDM speckle features a black base with red rubber granules visible on the surface — this is the classic commercial gym look seen in fitness facilities nationwide. Both products have identical performance and durability; the choice is purely aesthetic.
Is 4mm thick enough for a gym floor?
4mm is suitable for light-use areas such as cardio zones, stretching areas and yoga rooms. For free-weight areas, we recommend 6mm minimum, and for heavy lifting or equipment zones 8mm–12mm provides better sub-floor protection.
What does SBR rubber mean?
SBR stands for Styrene-Butadiene Rubber. It's a synthetic rubber compound made largely from recycled tyres, making it a sustainable and cost-effective choice for flooring. The SBR core is topped with an EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) surface layer for UV stability, colour consistency and surface durability.
How heavy are the rolls?
Weight varies by thickness. As a guide: 4mm is approximately 4kg/m², 6mm approximately 6kg/m², 8mm approximately 8kg/m², 10mm approximately 10kg/m² and 12mm approximately 12kg/m². A 10m roll at 6mm weighs roughly 60kg — we recommend two people for handling and installation.
Can I order a sample before buying?
Yes, sample requests can be placed via our contact form. We'll send a small sample piece so you can check the colour, texture and thickness before committing to your full order.
How do I join two rolls side by side?
Simply butt the edges flush — there is no need for join tape for standard installations. The rolls sit tightly together with minimal gap. For heavy commercial use where joins may widen over time, rubber seam tape or a thin bead of rubber adhesive along the join provides a more permanent bond.
