CrossFit demands the toughest flooring you can buy. Between barbell drops, box jumps, burpees and heavy sled pushes, a CrossFit box floor takes more punishment per square metre than almost any other training environment. Our rubber gym flooring rolls for CrossFit are available in 8mm, 10mm and 12mm — thicknesses designed to absorb serious impact, protect your sub-floor from dropped barbells and provide a stable, non-slip surface for every movement pattern. The 1m-wide seamless roll fits lifting platforms, rig areas and open workout spaces with zero joins to catch on during dynamic movements.
Why Choose a Roll Over Tiles?
| Feature | Rubber Roll | Rubber Tiles |
|---|---|---|
| Joins / Trip Hazards | ✅ Zero joins — seamless surface | ❌ Joins every 0.5–1m |
| Narrow / Long Spaces | ✅ Ideal — rolls fit corridors & lanes | ❌ Awkward cutting required |
| Waste | ✅ Cut to exact length — zero waste | ❌ Off-cuts from borders |
| Weight per m² | ✅ Lighter than equivalent thick tiles | ❌ Heavier per m² at 12mm+ |
| Installation | ✅ Lay & cut — no locking required | ⚠️ Interlocking edges needed |
| Hygiene | ✅ No gaps for dirt or bacteria | ⚠️ Joins can trap sweat/dirt |

How to Order & Measure
Ordering the right amount is simple:
- Measure your space: Length × Width. Our rolls are 1m wide, so for a 5m × 3m room you'd need three separate 5m lengths (covering 3m width).
- Choose your thickness using the guide above.
- Select cut-to-length or full 10m roll — cut-to-length is perfect for odd dimensions with zero waste.
- Add to cart and we'll cut your order to the nearest centimetre before dispatch.

Installation Guide
- Prepare the sub-floor: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, flat and free from dust, grease or debris.
- Acclimatise the roll: Allow the rubber to unroll and rest in the room for 30–60 minutes before fitting — this removes any curl from transit.
- Lay from one edge: Start at the longest straight wall and roll out, trimming to fit with a sharp utility knife and straight edge.
- Butt edges tightly: If using multiple rolls side by side, push edges flush together — no overlap.
- Secure if required: For permanent installations use double-sided carpet tape or rubber flooring adhesive along edges and seams. For loose-lay gym use, the weight of rubber is usually sufficient.
- Trim door thresholds: Use rubber edging strips or bevelled trim for a neat, safe edge at doorways.
- Final check: Walk the surface to ensure no bubbles or lifted edges before bringing in equipment.
Frequently Asked Questions
What thickness do I need for a CrossFit box?
For CrossFit boxes we recommend 8mm as a minimum for general workout areas, 10mm under rig structures and equipment zones, and 12mm for dedicated Olympic lifting platforms where barbells are dropped from overhead. This layered approach optimises cost and protection.
Can these rolls withstand repeated barbell drops?
Our 8mm, 10mm and 12mm rolls are manufactured from high-density recycled SBR rubber specifically rated for impact absorption. While no single layer of rubber eliminates all risk to sub-floor from extreme drops (some boxes add a platform board beneath), our 12mm roll is the thickest single-layer option and handles the vast majority of CrossFit drop scenarios.
Do the rolls need to be glued down in a CrossFit environment?
In high-intensity environments where rolls may shift during sled pushes or lateral movements, we recommend securing edges with double-sided heavy-duty carpet tape or rubber adhesive. The rolls are heavy enough to stay flat under most conditions, but active anchoring prevents creep over time.
Will the surface stay grippy for chalk and bare feet?
Yes — the textured EPDM surface maintains excellent grip with or without chalk. It's designed for the multi-directional traction demands of functional fitness movements including lateral shuffles, deadlifts and clean-and-jerk.
Can I cut the rolls to fit around a rig base?
Yes. Use a sharp utility knife and a metal straight edge or jigsaw to cut around rig bases, columns and wall plates. The dense rubber holds a precise cut edge.
How do these compare to CrossFit-specific rubber tiles?
Rolls provide a seamless surface with no joins — critical in a CrossFit environment where joins can catch barbells or trip athletes during dynamic movements. Rolls also handle long narrow spaces (like sled tracks) that tiles can't fit neatly, and they're lighter to install in large open-plan boxes.
