What Is Crumb Rubber Gym Flooring?

Crumb rubber gym flooring is made from recycled rubber granules (crumb) that are bonded together under heat and pressure to form a dense, durable flooring material. The recycled rubber origin gives crumb rubber a distinctive speckled appearance and a slightly more textured surface than solid rubber rolls. Crumb rubber is environmentally friendly, highly durable, and one of the most cost-effective commercial gym flooring options available in the UK.

Rubber gym rolls are best suited to large open floor areas where minimal seams are desired. They're particularly popular in commercial cardio areas, gym corridors and hallways, group fitness studios, and reception areas. The seamless finish creates a more professional appearance compared to tiled floors and can be walked on more comfortably in bare feet. For free-weight areas and CrossFit zones, we recommend our thicker 20mm–30mm interlocking tiles rather than rolls for superior impact protection.

Installation — Rubber Gym Flooring Roll

Rubber gym rolls can be loose-laid or bonded. For temporary installations, simply unroll onto a clean, flat sub-floor — the weight of the rubber holds it in position. For permanent commercial installations, adhere with a pressure-sensitive contact adhesive or double-sided flooring tape at seams and edges. When butting rolls together, align edges cleanly and ensure joins are positioned away from high-traffic paths where possible. Allow new rolls to acclimatise to room temperature (minimum 15°C) for at least 24 hours before installation to minimise curl at edges.
